Frequently Asked Questions

1. Do you respond to emergencies or perform construction work?

No. Disaster Services Consulting provides advisory, coordination, and oversight services. We do not perform emergency response, construction, or repair work.

2. Can we engage your services during an active disaster?

Yes. We may accept new clients during active disaster events; however, existing clients under retainer receive priority access. Availability for new engagements during disaster periods is limited.

3. What types of organizations do you typically work with?

We primarily support property managers, HOAs, municipalities, and organizations that require structured preparedness, response coordination, and recovery oversight. Limited, project-based services may be available for individual property owners.

4. Why do you operate on a retainer model?

Retainer engagements allow us to provide continuity, familiarity with your organization, and informed guidance when time-sensitive decisions arise. This model reduces reactive decision-making and improves outcomes during complex events.

5. How quickly can you mobilize during an event?

Mobilization depends on the scope of engagement and existing client commitments. Retained clients receive priority access and predefined engagement parameters.

6. Do you work with contractors, insurance companies, or public agencies?

Our primary focus is equipping clients with the information, frameworks, and tools needed to manage contractor interactions, insurance processes, and agency coordination independently when time matters most. We provide recommendations, guidance, and decision-support so clients can confidently handle these matters themselves while reducing client liability and overall costs.

In certain specific circumstances, we may recommend engaging a licensed public adjuster or other qualified professionals when specialized representation or services are appropriate. Disaster Services Consulting does not perform claims adjustment, construction, or representational services.

7. Do you provide estimate writing services?

Yes. Disaster Services Consulting offers limited estimate development and documentation support as part of our advisory services. These estimates are prepared to help clients understand scope, costs, and recovery considerations so they can make informed decisions and manage discussions with contractors, insurers, or other stakeholders.

Estimate writing services are advisory in nature and are not provided as claims adjustment, contractor estimating, or representational services. In situations requiring licensed representation, we may recommend engaging a qualified public adjuster or other appropriate professionals.
